In a stunning demonstration of cutting-edge space technology, NASA astronauts Steve Bowen and Warren "Woody" Hoburg are stepping into the cosmos on June 9 to augment the International Space Station's (ISS) power system with a pioneering Roll-Out Solar Array (IROSA). Today's excursion, affectionately dubbed U.S. EVA 87, kick-starts at a brisk 9:15 a.m. EDT and is expected to wrap up after an eventful six-and-a-half-hour installation. Sporting a suit garnished with red stripes, spacewalk veteran Bowen is joined by first-timer Hoburg, donning an unmarked suit. Their mission is a two-part series, with a subsequent IROSA to be added on June 15, amplifying the ISS's energy capacity. Stay tuned as we witness this electrifying upgrade to our favorite orbiting laboratory.
