IRIS-T SL Air Defence System Explain.

Today we will talk about the IRIS-T SL weapon system. IRIS-T stands for InfraRed Imaging System Tail or Thrust Vector-Controlled and SL stands for Surface launched. It is a short to medium-range surface-to-air guided missile designed and developed by Diehl BGT Defence. The missile is developed to meet future medium-range air defence requirements of the German Air Force and to replace the Patriot Air defence system. It is an advanced version of the IRIS-T air-to-air guided missile which entered into service in December 2005. Each IRIS-T SL battery consists of three launchers each carrying eight missiles a Ground Master 200 MMC Surveillance Radar a TRML-4D Multifunction Fire Control Radar a Hensoldt TwInvis passive radar a tactical Operations Centre which can be placed up to 20 km away and a Reloader vehicle.
