THE EARTH RENEWED

A rainbow appears like a halo in the buttermilk sky,
after the storm has quieted, and the rain has ended.
Mother Earth basks in the sun so the terrain will dry.
The air is steeped with smells, old and new blended.

The rainbow appears for all to welcome with jubilee,
A signature of earth refreshed thus birthed anew.
The archaic has been routed with seeds of victory.
Neoteric creations now sprout, ready to open on cue.

Glorious sunlight is unmasked. Life begins activity,
as the darkness of the storm is now held at bay.
Day’s murkiness fades no longer in storm’s captivity.
The beauty is a breathtaking, wondrous Genesis Day.

The earth sings in harmony a medley of joyful songs.
Flowers are nurtured to bud and form blossoms again.
Dust rising from cracked, arid soil no longer belongs.
The old has been washed away with a fresh gift of rain.
