Moderating online content: fighting harm or silencing dissent?'

In recent months, the world has seen growing criticism levelled against social media companies regarding how they moderate user content.

These companies often face critical human rights dilemmas: aggressively combating what is viewed as harmful content risks silencing ‘protected speech’: speech that, under international law, should be permitted. Intervening with or removing content affects the rights to freedom of expression and privacy, and can easily lead to censorship.

The fight against censorship has never been more important

The year 2022 represents a new low when it comes to online access to information and freedom of expression. It was the twelfth year in a row that online freedom declined, according to Freedom House’s Freedom On the Net report. There were some obvious causes. Since its unjust invasion of Ukraine, Russia has ramped up its censorship efforts. Similarly, the military junta that has taken over Myanmar has reintroduced draconian online censorship. And China remained the world’s worst offender for the eighth straight year when it comes to denying its citizens online freedom.

The first topic I have investigated for the purpose of publication was to connect the dots on why the education system and popular entertainment (eg Disney, government run schools) are trying to turn as many of our pre-pubescent children into gay, trans and bisexual entities. Some entities are doing this for profit because there seems to be a shortage on the these three type of children that could be sold and abused by customers willing to pay large amounts money. There are never enough heterosexual children to be exploited, but the other categories are even more underrepresented in the overall scheme of global and domestic sex trafficking.

We promote the idea of creating a greater (bigger & stronger) Idaho so that conservative counties can become a part of a red state. We started from rural Oregon, but our movement now includes people of northwestern Oregon who welcome a new, smaller Oregon, as well as Idahoans, Californians, and Washingtonians.

We explain why moving the Idaho / Oregon state line is a win-win for each decision-making body on our homepage.

In the last two years, many Oregon counties have voted in favor of moving the state line. Polling is strong in Idaho and northwestern Oregon.

We believe we do have a chance to convince Oregon to let these counties go because getting rid of a group of counties that have the same average income as Idaho would be a great boost to the Oregon state budget. State lines have been moved many times before.
