Cyber Crime Gang Demands Ransom from Hack Victims, Threatens Data Publication

A Russian-based cyber crime gang known as Clop has issued an ultimatum to victims of a recent hack, demanding contact before June 14 or face the publication of stolen data. Organizations such as the BBC, British Airways, and Boots have been warned that payroll data may have been compromised.

Employers are being advised not to pay any ransom demands made by the hackers. Clop's tactics include demanding victim organizations to initiate contact, a departure from the usual method of hackers emailing ransom demands.

How do you think organizations should respond to ransom demands from cyber criminals?
