Prince Harry's deposition in his lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers concluded yesterday, on Wednesday, 6th June. He spent about a day-and-a-half on the witness stand and was subjected to hours of cross examination by MGN lawyers. The judge also asked him some direct questions. Many in the American media and British press have been misled into thinking that this case depends solely on Harry and that Harry has to provide incontrovertible evidence of MGN's hacking. Harry is not the only plaintiff. The court has already heard from Mirror editors and journalists about how they sourced their stories. MGN has been the subject of many legal actions in the past. Harry also noted that MGN had destroyed evidence of its criminal activities. Harry spoke on the last day of his testimony about why he started to take legal action against MGN, and other newspapers. The Duke of Sussex revealed that he sued tabloid papers over phone hacking to protect his wife. Prince Harry, 38 years old, said he was thinking of ways to defend Meghan without having the Royal Family's legal team involved. He said, "I believe it was a conversation about how to find a solution to the abuse, intrusion, and hatred that were directed at me and my spouse." "And to see whether there was a way to find another course of action, without relying upon the institution's attorneys." The Duke has filed a lawsuit against Mirror Group Newspapers over 148 articles that he claims were the result of illegal activities, such as phone hacking. In his second day of testimony, he revealed that Sir Elton John had introduced him to David Sherborne. The Duke suggested that Mr Sherborne was the one who had proposed legal action. The Telegraph Harry thought that the only way to protect himself was to follow whatever instructions he received from royal lawyers. Harry was never represented by those lawyers alone. They represented the interests of the Firm. The Firm preferred to negotiate deals behind closed doors, rather than sue tabloids directly. Harry did not realize that he had the option to hire his own attorney and pursue justice without having to rely on the royal-affiliated team of lawyers until 2019. Even the most conservative British media outlets admitted that Harry did well. He didn't lose temper or have a breakdown while on the witness stand. He did not pretend to know all the answers, and his legal team seemed well prepared. Fans cheered him as he left court. Avalon Red provided the photos.
