What if American politics most closely resembles physics, rather than anything else?

Many scientists believe that the universe is headed, billions of year from now, to a situation in which all energy is so thinly spread out that there will be no possibility for any physical matter to exist.
Friction, constantly gnawing at the fabric of all matter, will be a prime cause of this bleak fate.
In politics, is the political Left that friction, constantly gnawing away at the fabric of all that is, or once was, America? Pushing the once mighty American idea to dissipate into nothingness?
