In this After Effects tutorial, we show how you can use a single line in a shape path. Using the shape path modifier Zig Zag, we can take a boring straight path and convert it into a useful sine wave. One note, the flag shown in the tutorial was done with Wave Warp, but it could be done with the technique shown here. It’d just be a little more tedious.

If you happen to use the Wave Warp effect, you might need to work in a larger comp size and reduce it as sometimes Wave Warp can lead to jagged results!
