Canada wildfires blanket North American cities in smoke

of millions of people in North America woke up to dangerous air quality levels as intense wildfires burn across Canada.

A haze hangs over the north-eastern US with some cities, including New York, briefly reporting the worst air quality of any major city in the world.

Much of the smoke is coming from Quebec where 160 fires are burning.
