The Christian church as we know it today has picked up a passive spirit that has caused us to retreat to our buildings and be afraid of discourse in the marketplace. As a believer, it's not unusual for someone to tell me we have no business in the marketplace. We need to keep that in the church.
The other day, a man who had taught a Bible class for years told me they could not discuss politics because it divides the group. So because of the fear of division, the church shays away from the very things that must be confronted.
I love the spirit world, and because of that, I love the church. Coincidentally, I also happen to be called to the religious mountain. The problem stems from the fact that we try to get everybody functioning on the religious mountain when your congregation if you're a pastor, is called the other mountains.
For instance, that contractor in the church has spiritual authority in his world because of his calling to it. In reality, he's probably operating as an apostle in the world God has called him.
The teacher in your congregation has been called to the educational mountain and has the authority to speak into that world and change the outcome of those around her.
I have been a churchman all my life, have pastored in several churches, and have been guilty of falling into some of these traps that everything needs to be in the church. I didn't learn this yesterday, but I should have been discipled as a young man in these ways.
So square, your shoulders look them in the eye because God has given you authority in the mountain or place that God has sent you to labor.
