Walleye Fishing Tips | Finding Bottom with a Jig in Deep Water

When you're jigging for walleye, it can sometimes be difficult to find the bottom or notice when your jig finds contact due to current and boat sway. In this walleye fishing tip video, TJ Hester of Hesters Sportfishing (www.hesterssportfishing.com) explains a smart technique for keeping an eye on your line to view when the walleye jig makes contact with the bottom.

Free-spool your spinning reel and pull line out, moving your rod to make a loop on the surface of the water. You'll be able to accurately see when your jig contacts the bottom.

The Columbia River is an excellent place to fish Walleye. TJ Hester fishes the Columbia for keeper and trophy walleye in the Tri-Cities area, between Washington and Oregon.
