Big Columbia River Sturgeon Fishing In Astoria Oregon

The best sturgeon fishing of the year on the Columbia River happens in the Astoria Estuary. Sturgeon invade Astoria from June through September to eat anchovy and other baitfish that migrate to the estuary in the summer. In June 2017 Washington and Oregon Fish and Wildlife departments decided the sturgeon numbers had increased to a healthy sustainable number to allow a retention season.
