What Happens (sometimes) If Timing Belt/ Chain Is Installed Incorrectly

In this video I have a great example of what may happen if the valve timing is set incorrectly on an interference engine. Bad things happen, bad things. The example in the video shows how the valves were actually broken off. A hole was even punched into the top of one of the pistons. The results of incorrectly setting the valve timing during a timing belt or timing chain installation can be catastrophic. Let this video serve as a warning. Be extremely careful when removing and installing timing belts and chains.

Note: Not every time a timing belt or chain is installed incorrectly will it lead to engine damage. Each case is different. This video is an example of what "may" happen.
