The secret to the attraction of blade baits is vibration. Anglers will jig, rip or retrieve these baits when walleye fishing. The blade bait sends out a thumping sound that walleyes can't help but attack! Blade baits were first introduced in the 50's and have been a staple in the walleye fishing world ever since. The key to fishing a successful blade bait to catching walleye is the action you put on the bait when jigging through the area your fishing for walleye.

You can either vertical jig these walleye lures or retrieve them quickly near bottom as your jigging and reeling the lure back to yourself. This technique can be hard to master as you may lose a few lures to really dial it in! The vertical profile of a blade bait mimics a minnow or small panfish.
