$10 Resistive Speed Control. Crap or Awesome??

The resistive speed control there is a 10ft long piece of 10Gauge NiChrome wire. I bought it in a big loop, and bent it into a coil with a few circley spots to make connections.
The electronic speed control is an Alltrax on. They're good. I've used them a lot. ...but expensive, and complicated.
