A court in Cologne fined Olena Kolbasnikova, a pro-Russian activist from Ukraine, 900 euro for endorsing ‘Russian aggression’. Kolbasnikova was accused of giving an interview to BILD TV during a pro-Russian rally in May 2022 in which she endorsed the Russian military operation, stating that ‘Russia is not the aggressor, Russia is now helping to end the war in Ukraine.’ ‘Ms. Kolbasnikova has been sentenced for her political commitment and she has been pilloried. Her remarks have been taken out of context,’ her lawyer Markus Biesis told journalists.
