Assembly is pretty straight forward. There is always some assembly required with any grill, but I found the instructions easy to follow and had it assembled in about an hour.
The quality of the materials and construction is top notch. The ceramic shell feels super solid and the controls all work great. The grate is plenty large enough to cook for a family, and the charcoal basket holds plenty of coals.
The heat distribution is super even thanks to the dome shape and the included heat deflectors. And you can easily control the temperature by adjusting the dampers.

I was able to get it up to over 700 degrees for a perfect sear on some steaks. I also really like the included cart and side shelves. They provide plenty of space for prepping food and holding utensils.
And I can easily wheel it around my patio as needed. Another great feature is the ash drawer. With other grills, you have to remove the entire grate to clean out the ash, but with the Kamado Joe, you just pull out the drawer and dump it.
Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Kamado Joe Classic II. It is a high quality grill that will last me for years to come. It may be a bit of an investment up front, but I feel like I got my moneys worth and then some.
