Geode Pour Attempt with Negative Space - Green, Gold, and Pearl Metallics

This was my first geode acrylic paint pour and it included a bit of negative space. The geode pour is easiest to do with resin as the colors don't mix as much and bands of color are easier to create. However, I have seen plenty of amazing acrylic paint pours that look like geodes.

I didn't use any stones, rocks, gems, or glitter (other than what was already in the paint) but I do like the outcome. A straight tree-ring pour may work also but you don't get those thick layers of paint with most tree-ring pours.

I like geode pours where each color/layer has its own personality and characteristics. I didn't quite achieve that hear but I still am in love with the results.

😈😈WHAT I FAILED AT AND THINGS I LEARNED✔✔
1- Don't pour until the gesso is completely dry. This caused my paint not to move around on the canvas. I had to use twice as much paint to make it work.
2- You really need a base coat. A nice base coat lets the outer layers maintain their shape without rolling over each other. The paint also flows much better.
3- Leave some paint the pour some distinct color patters after the rest of the pour is done. I've seen people add straight colors or do dirty pour cups like I did a little at the end. Both work amazing.
4- Don't fuss over the painting. Walk away after your initially think you are done. Wait 5 minutes and ask someone else's opinion. We are all our worst critics when it comes to painting.
5- Be ready to improvise. Nothing comes out exactly how you think it will. That is the beauty of acrylic paint pouring.
