Don't overpower your mica powder pigment paints!

When mixing regular acrylic paints with mica powders the transparency of the painting is very important to ensure you keep the shine and shimmer of the mica.

In this experiment we compare mica (purchased on Amazon - link below) mixed with Liquitex pouring medium by itself, with some white opaque acrylic paint, and with some magenta and cyan transparent acrylic paints.

Understanding how your paints mixed with mica powder are going to reflect light will allow you to better layer your paints to maximize your color and shimmer.
