THIS could by why your acrylic pour is cracking!

Many new acrylic pour artists have the unfortunate experience to have their acrylic pours crack when they dry.

Cracking happens when the top layer of paint dries faster than the button layer. As the bottom layer dries and contracts it rips the already dried skin on the surface.

One of the most common reason I have found for the cause of acrylic pour crazes and cracks is the use of craft white paints.

Craft white paints, especially matte paints, don't use very high quality pigments and don't have very good binders in them. This causes they to crack and craze more often than other paints.

In this experiment we compare how 8 differen types of white paints dry including gloss craft paint, satin craft paint, matte craft paint, Liquitex, Amsterdam, and Artist's Loft soft body white paints.
