With the hot weather and schools closing for the summer, volunteers are needed now more than ever.

The Lethbridge Soup Kitchen has been serving hot meals to those in need in our community for the past 36 years.

The organization dishes out around 10,000 meals per month.

Bill Ginther, the executive director of the Soup Kitchen, says they currently need volunteers to help prepare and serve the meals.

Ginther says total expenses for the non-profit is $40,000 a month for salaries, utilities and gas for vehicles along with food that is purchased.

So far, they’ve received $30,000.
