Dear Pastor Bob: Why is it that when someone famous passes away, we say “RIP” when we don’t always know if they are actually resting in peace? If they didn’t accept Jesus as Savior, they wouldn’t be resting in peace. So why say it then? Doesn’t this give false assurance to the family of the deceased that their loved one is in Heaven, when in fact they may not be there? Do you have any thoughts?
