Coconut Rice Prepare Karnataka style as good as Veg Biryani

Today's recipe is using coconut and preparing the coconut rice in Karnataka style. In Karnataka most of cook coconut rice in veg biriyani style. using fresh coconut with spices makes rice delicious and party veg rice recipe. For non vegetarian folks can be eat this coconut rice with chicken gravy l mutton gravy l kebab l egg gravy. Our vegetarian folks can eat coconut rice with paneer gravy l gobi gravy l aloo gravy to make mouth watering for the lunch and dinner.
A recipe for Thengaa Saadham (Coconut Rice):
Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
1 cup grated coconut
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 onion, chopped
2 green chilies, chopped
2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
Instructions:
Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, coconut, water, salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the liquid is absorbed.
Stir in the onion and green chilies and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the onion is softened.
Stir in the cilantro and serve hot.
Here are some tips for making Thengaa Saadham:
Use good quality basmati rice.
Don't overcook the rice. It should be cooked through, but still have a bit of a bite to it.
If you don't have grated coconut, you can use shredded coconut. Just be sure to rinse it well before using it.
You can add other spices to the rice, such as curry powder or garam masala.
Garnish the rice with more cilantro and a squeeze of lemon juice.
