Destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam

Ukrainian forces struck and destroyed the Nova Kakhovka dam on the Dnieper river, thus attempting to flood the Russian positions downstream on the bank across from Kherson.

In addition, Ukraine will have to evacuate Kherson city. It also presents cooling issues for the plant. In general, the 'rules of war' (terms that harken back to a simpler time), prohibit such attacks.
