Overview:

"Put away your evil, correct what are doing and learn to do what is right if you want to be the Temple of the Lord (Ephrem, Irenaeus)." "When we do become God's temple, this should help us realize that we should not put our faith in the splendor of earthly buildings, but in the One who lives within us. When He does not live within us, the Church becomes a den of thieves as evil enters within it (St. Jerome)." "Then the Church and it's people must receive admonition from God, which is proof of His great love for His people (Clement of Alexandria). By doing God's will, we join the Church founded before the creation of the world (Pseudo-Clement of Rome)."

Jeremiah 7- Scripture Breakdown from Orthodox Study Bible

See v. 7- Judah and its captivity was certainly not fated, but instead was the appropriate response by the Lord due to the freely made decisions of disobedient people.

See v. 10- Jesus quoted this verse see (Matthew 21:13), so we see here in Jeremiah's time the question of the temple being "A DEN OF ROBBERS" was "foolish"- and by the time of Jesus was considerably sad.

see v. 17: "CAKE DOUGH": The Hebrew word "chavon" is translated in Greek: sweet bread that was dedicated to pagan "GODS, THE HOST OF HEAVEN."

See vv. 21-22: Here the Lord is "Highlighting" their obedience as being more important than adhering to the letter of the "COMAND."

See v. 30: "TOPHET" - this was the place where children were being sacrificed to "MOLECH" 4Kg23(2Kings):10. see v. 32: the pagan sacrifice are prophesied to become a killing field.

"Confession rescued the King of Babylon from his many sins. When you return, the Father will embrace you (Pacian)." "God is quick to forgive. Jeremiah 8 - Scripture Breakdown from Orthodox Study Bible

See vv. 1-2: The desecration of the "GRAVES" of patriarchs and kings was done by the Babylonians. The drying is from the heat of the "SUN." The bones of the saints are by no means to be worshipped; God desired this to convince Israel of her error.

see v. 12: "GALL TO DRINK" - unsanitary water, the only kind in that city. Even though this was a proper corrective response to Israel's sin, they went to far beyond this, but later in time, by giving Christ, who knew no sin, "Wine mingled with gall" (Matthew 27:34).

See v. 17: "VANITIES" is another term fir "idols."

see v. 18: The seasons of the siege , carried through the summer, not only match the chronology of the Babylonian invasion (probably that of 597) but is highlighting how devastating a siege can be. No crops, could be grown and harvested that year, while all the inhabitants of the greater territory crowded into the city walls to be "SAVED" from the terror.

see v. 20: "BALM" A resin of mastix or terebinth, used for perfumes, medicines, and ointments. "GILEAD" is sometimes a symbol for Israel, an area east of the Jordan River bordered by desert.

see v. 21: Jeremiah's "TEARS" is reminding us that Gods punishments were not without purpose.

God deeply cares for all whom He Discplines (Hebrews 12:5-6), and He sends His rebuke to correct and to also transform us all...

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
