Nigeria Head of State; Yakubu Gowon Message After The Death Of Egypt President Gamal Abdel Nasser
Transcript:
"It is with the deepest regret and a sense of grievous loss that I learned of the sudden and untimely death of President Gamal Abdul Nasser, President of the United Arab Republic. On behalf of the Government and the entire people Nigeria I wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and condolence to his family, and to the Government and people of the United Arab Republic. Only three weeks ago I had the honour of being his quest in Cairo and the opportunity of exchanging views with him on many issues of our time. It did not take me much time to see in him a man with a sense of mission, the pursuit of which he had devoted his whole life. he left me in no doubt about his honesty and devotion to the cause of justice and freedom not only for his people but for all mankind. His critics did not understand him, largely because they failed to communicate with him. By his death the world has lost a great leader. he will be difficult to replace in our lifetime."
