Snake Method: HOW TO in under 2 Minutes Weber Kettle

This is a short video tutorial on setting up a charcoal snake in a 22-inch Weber Kettle. I used Kingsford Original in this video. If you are using a larger briquette, such as B&B, adjust it by making a 2x1 snake, 2 briquettes on the bottom, 1 briquette on the top layer, in the middle of the two bottom rows.

After you complete all of the steps shown in the video, put the lid on and open the top and bottom vents all the way. Let the temperature climb to 25-50 degrees below your target temperature, depending on the outside air temperature. Once you are 25-50 degrees below your target temperature, close the bottom vent to half-way, and leave the top vent about 1/3rd open. The temperature will stop climbing and remain consistent around your target temperature, and this is when you put your meat on the grate. Place the meat on the grate, but not directly above the hot coals. You're ready to smoke meat now!
