Tesla has an agreement in place with the island of New Caledonia to start mining nickel at the Goro Nickle mine and ensure their supply of nickel for EV batteries is secured and consistent. The ultimate step to Tesla's vertical integration plans from sourcing the materials, building the batteries and putting them in Tesla vehicles could soon become a reality.
