YouTube Reverses Policy on Removing Videos with Election Fraud Claims

YouTube has announced that it will no longer remove videos containing false claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election, reversing its previous policy. The change in policy comes as YouTube re-evaluates its approach and considers the impact on political speech without effectively reducing the risk of harm.

The new policy will take effect from 2 June, ahead of the 2024 elections. YouTube will continue to enforce other election misinformation policies, such as misleading instructions on voting.

What measures do you believe platforms like YouTube should take to address the spread of misinformation without suppressing political speech?
