Therese Apel of the Dark Horse Press talks about the Madison Police officer killed in a standoff
One officer with the Madison Police Department has died and another from Brandon has received significant injuries from a standoff on 6/1.
The shootout, which was located in the Crossgates neighborhood, was prompted after officers with the Brandon Police Department responded to a call reporting a possible hostage situation at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a man had taken a woman hostage after a domestic dispute and had barricaded the two inside the residence.
Both Tyler — who previously served as Ridgeland Police Chief — and the suspect received fatal injuries, ending the standoff at 10:00 a.m.
