Nickita Starck is the founder of When Push Comes To Shove (WPCTS), a rapidly expanding alternative maternity structure, and an EBE award-nominated organization dedicated to empowering women in their birthing experiences. Nickita founded WPCTS in 2021 as a response to the loss of insurance for independent midwives in the UK, which left women with limited options for autonomous births. In addition to being a singer/songwriter, Nickita teaches birth physiology to doctors, midwives, doulas, and parents-to-be, and WPCTS offers an access fund for low-income families. The organization has a global network of natural birth practitioners who facilitate non-clinical births and emphasize the importance of informed consent. To date, Nickita has trained over 100 doulas, midwives, and doctors and specializes in human rights in childbirth to help families navigate a complicated system. The movement's message is simple: women should have the autonomy to make informed decisions and give birth in the setting of their choice without coercion. Nickita has been supported by individuals and groups within the freedom movement, such as the World Doctor's Alliance, Maajid Nawaz, The World Council For Health and Dr. Sherri Tenpenny. Nickita believes that creating a better world starts with empowering women in childbirth and allowing them to take control of their birthing experiences.
