After a chance encounter, we are invited to do some racing at St. Thomas Yacht Club (STYC). We hang out with our new friends there and tour the yacht club. It has some excellent sailing heritage, including producing many Americas Cup Sailors and Match Race champions. We have even raced against a few in the past.

After some fun, it was time to get back to boat work. We had a watermaker to rebuild. We fixed it up and even created a DIY how-to video in our tech talks section. We also check out the island of St. John (STJ) and do some snorkeling and freediving with turtles.

Then, it is on to BVI. We are sailing through paradise in bliss, but starting to become aware of the changes on the horizon.

About Us:

So who are we?

We aren't Vendee Globe Race or Volvo Ocean Race sailors, although sometimes Curtis wishes he was one. We don't have a fancy catamaran, but we do have a pretty and fast monohull sailboat.

We are not Sailing La Vagabonde, Expedition Evans, Sailing Doodles, Sailing Uma, Project Atticus, MJ Sailing, Gone With the Wynns, or SV Delos.

We are Kate and Curtis, a YouTube sailing couple and travel vloggers, with our sailing rescue dog Roxy, aboard SV Sweet Ruca, a J-Boats J/46 monohull. Cruising catamarans like the Fountaine Pajot's, Leopards, and Lagoons can't keep up, but we still like them ;-) We even wanted one before we found out how much fun performance monohull sailing and cruising is!

We used to be sailboat racers on the great lakes (we still are...kind of). We bought a sailboat, re-fit it, with a goal to sail around the world, doublehanded, via the capes (Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope). Some say this is the wrong way or the hard way. To us, the challenge is part of the journey.

We will see if this will happen or not, as the "new normal" has put quite a damper on our travels. For now, we are holed up in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean making videos and scuba diving.

We hope you enjoy our videos and vlogs and join us on our journey via our YouTube Channel.

'Till Next Time :-)
