Dear Pastor Bob: Some Pastors teach that the reason why many of our prayers come up empty is because we aren’t activating them. They say that the Holy Spirit will sometimes prompt us to pray about something. But if we don’t yield to it (or activate) the prayer, then we aren’t praying correctly and God may not answer our prayers. The people that teach this claim that God showed them the secret to unlocking prayer. Does the Bible talk about this? Have you ever heard anything like this before? Do you agree with it?

1) Prayer is sincere
2) Prayer is sensible
3) Prayer is the affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through Christ
4) Effective prayers are prayed through the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit
5) Prayer should be for things that God has promised, according to his Word (the Bible)
6) Prayer should not be selfish, but should always be focused on the good of the Church and others
7) Prayer should be done in faith and with submission to the will of God
