Russia or the West? Turkey's economic dilemma

DW's Business Special speaks to Daron Acemoglu, Professor of Economics at MIT, about how Turkey's role in the global economy will develop under the continued rule of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. As well as facing an economic crisis at home, Erdogan has also been playing an increasingly pivotal role on the international stage. He has adopted an ambivalent stance towards Russia's war in Ukraine, intensifying his country's energy dependence on Moscow while also brokering a deal to facilitate Ukrainian grain exports via the Black Sea and agreeing to stop the transit of Western-sanctioned goods to Russia.
