NT Bible Study 72: have mercy, and not sacrifice (Beginning of Jesus' Galilean Ministry part 32)

This is a comparative Bible study on the events surrounding the beginning of Jesus' Galilean ministry. This 32nd part further discusses the accusation of the Pharisees that Jesus' disciples did something unlawful on the sabbath day while traveling through the corn fields, in particular, we look at Jesus' response the quoted the scripture "...mercy, and not sacrfice...". This Bible study is within a sub-series that we have begun to study regarding Jesus being asked questions about the sabbath (Matthew 12:1-14; Mark 2:23 – 3:6; Luke 6:1-11). Other verses referenced during this Bible study are: Leviticus 24:5-9; 1 Samuel 21:3-6; Hosea 6:6; Matthew 9:12-13; 1 Samuel 15:22; Deuteronomy 5:14. Overall, this is our 72nd New Testament (NT) Bible study. I'm a layperson, hoping to witness things I believe I've learned through Bible study, and would like to share this information as a friend would with a friend.
