As a Christian, the people in Genesis were characters in the Bible, religious figures, proto-Christians. As a Jew, these people feel like family, they feel like people I know, they’re the ancestors of my nation, which is an extended family. As a WASP, these characters did not feel close to me. They seemed primitive.
