Canada: NDP leader holds news conference with drug policy advocacy group – June 1, 2023
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh holds a news conference on Parliament Hill. He is joined by Gord Johns, the NDP critic for mental health and harm reduction, and members of Moms Stop the Harm (MSTH), a network of mothers and families who have lost children or loved ones to drug overdoses. It advocates for access to safe supply and other harm reduction measures. Johns, MSTH co-founder Leslie McBain, and Angela Vos also make remarks. McBain is asked by reporters about the group's request to meet with Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to discuss his opposition to safe supply. Singh faces questions about his party's motion calling on David Johnston to step aside from his role as the government's special rapporteur on foreign interference. The House of Commons passed the non-binding motion 174-150 in a vote on May 31.
