Migrants, activists, and Hispanic business owners rallied across Florida on Thursday to take part in the ‘A Day without Immigrants’ protest in response to the state’s newest immigration law. Senate Bill 1718, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in March and set to go into effect July 1, limits social services for illegal immigrants. Jacksonville, Orlando, and Fort Meyers are several of the cities that saw labor strikes and protestors march.
