The full meeting of the Fairfield County Commissioners' weekly meeting for May 30, 2023. This week's meeting featured a presentation by United Way about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program, a proclamation identifying June as Elder Abuse Awareness Month in Fairfield County, along with regular County Administration update.

In the public comments portion Ray Stemen spoke of the need for a spirit of forgiveness and prayer and Judy Stemen shared several news articles about the ongoing COVID revelations, the need to make sure public health officials do not make the same mistakes and overreach in the future and the symptoms of a culture in downfall. She did ask rhetorically, what the commissioners were doing to prevent overreach in the future within Fairfield County.

Then 9 other speakers came to speak in opposition to the Eastern Cottontail Solar Project with reasons ranging from property values/rights to farmland preservation to contamination/health concerns.

The speakers included: Beth Smith, Cynthia LeCrone, Dave Droll, Crystal Ortman, Annelizabeth Berry, Earl Cole, Dave Terry, Michael Conner and Sherry Pymer. In addition to her comments, Sherry shared articles from North Carolina State Extension supporting her concerns with solar projects.
