Investigation underway after police vehicle hits four-year-old boy in Iowa

Police in Marshalltown, Iowa, said an investigation was underway after a patrol vehicle struck a four-year-old boy on May 20th. Dashcam footage released by the Marshalltown Police Department shows a child running out from behind a parked ice cream van directly into the path of the police vehicle at the intersection of Woodbury Street and North 12th Avenue. The police department said: “Officer [David] Danielson was conducting a routine patrol through the area when the accident occurred. Officer Danielson immediately summoned medical treatment for the child. The child was subsequently transported to an area medical facility and was treated for an injury sustained to his right foot and lower leg.” Credit: Marshalltown Police Department via Storyful
