Being Hacked, I thought grandson had mucked around with Netflix could not get onto it. Contacted Internet Provider they told me I had been hacked at least 130 times and Netflix and the App had been interfered with. I asked them for proof and they sent me a list of hacks. All from overseas cyber hackers.
It was pointed out to me that through the Netflix App I had been hacked. I then found out that when you buy a Smart TV it has certain features – apps in it, setting within the Smart TV are on manufacturers default settings. The Smart TV will have a camera in it and one or two microphones. There is a potential risk that the default settings allow you to be hacked through the camera and microphone. To be viewed and listened to in the confines of your home. Personal data can land in the hands of and, third, fourth and fifth parties hands. The data from your Smart TV can be harvested. It is a two way mirror of advertisers and data brokers.
I have spent some hours researching this. I have found important resources, solutions as to how you can protect your personal data, however not absolutely. But like putting a burglar alarm on your house and having surveillance camera’s. Putting obstacles there to significantly narrow the path to potential risk of hacking, sopping on you and your family and your visitors, also your children. Remember data is a bug revenue gatherer in the hands of advertisers and cyber crims There is a potential risk that your children could be heard and viewed by your Smart TV. This should make any parent, grandparent, family member wake up.
