Ace Samples on “Addicting” Bare-Knuckle Effort at #BKFC42

Speaking with ‘Big Boy’ Chris Jensen of Bare Knuckle News, Samples discussed this fighting foray in a new combat sport.

Ace Samples has had four gloved boxing bouts and five MMA fights across amateur and pro. He made his return to combat sports after over six and a half years away.

When asked what it was like getting his first taste of bare-knuckle, Samples said:

“Man. That was addicting. I retired from MMA 4 or 5 years ago. I said, I’m tired of it. I just want have fun with my life. I want to go and work and fish and hunt. Training’s hard, but Andy Hall got me up off the couch. I told (David) Feldman, and I told my opponent, I am not here to mess around.”

“If I’m back, I’m ******* back, man. Like, I’m making a run at it. I want 2 or 3 more. I want my belt. I didn’t come back to take part. Like Conor said, I came here to take over. I want the belt and I’m coming to get the ******* thing.”

When questioned about what factors made him come out so hard in the second stanza, Samples stated:

“Yeah, man. So I’ll tell you. I underestimated how tough Glendel is. I truly did. The guy - I know a lot of people I hit with that hook and they don’t get back up. He got up over and he dealt with it. I’m a dog, man. When I feel pain and I draw blood, I’m trying to go for the kill.”

Samples had some issues with his eye, but his corner motivated him by saying they didn’t give "a damn" about his eye and that he needed to keep working.

Overall, Ace Samples felt like he threw too many single shots as opposed to stringing together combos. As for what’s next, Samples eyes the 135 lb class now instead of continuing at 145 pounds.
