Military Delegation Sent To Ghana To Explain The State Of The Nigerian Political Crisis | July 1967
Led by Dr. Okoi Arikpo, the Commissioner for External Affairs, the delegation paid a visit of Osu Castle, the seat of Ghana's government which was then run by a junta styled the National Liberation Council (NLC).
The Head of the NLC, Lt. General Joseph Ankrah greeted members of the Nigerian delegation. Accompanying Dr. Arikpo was Colonel Olufemi Olutoye. The Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Olu Adeniji joined the delegation at Osu Castle.
Lt. General Ankrah, who had attempted to mediate between the disputants in Nigeria at Aburi earlier in the year, was joined by J. E. O. Nunoo, a fellow member of the NLC.
