In this video, we discuss CoTCCC-approved tourniquets and why they are important. CoTCCC is the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care. The CoTCCC guides the use of tourniquets to prevent death from massive bleeding.
All, CoTCCC-approved tourniquets are effective at stopping blood flow and, with proper training, can be easily applied by one person. Tourniquets should be applied as soon as possible after an injury involving massive bleeding occurs and should be tightened until the bleeding stops. The CoTCCC recommends that tourniquets be left in place for at least two hours before being removed.
