During a White House press briefing on Wednesday, National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said the allegations that Tara Reade, President Biden’s former aide, had defected to Russia because her life was at risk by the U.S. government are “absolutely false and baseless.” Reade announced she would be seeking Russian citizenship on Tuesday while attending a Russian state news outlet event. During the 2020 presidential election, Reade claimed then-Senator Biden sexually assaulted her in a Capitol Hill corridor in 1993.
