Debt ceiling bill passes key hurdle as it clears committee, advances to House floor

The much-anticipated debt ceiling bill moved past a key hurdle Tuesday. The bill, the result, of a deal between House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and President Joe Biden, cleared the house rules committee. The legislation heads to the house floor today for debate and a final passage vote. If it passes, the bill moves to the Senate.
