Hello Guys, Today in this video I am showing Scrapping a Microwave Oven FAST and SAFE!, This video is here to explain the fastest way to get the good parts out of a microwave with the least amount of effort. If you want to get scrap copper out of scrapping a microwave faster, this video should help. I help by explaining what to look for and how to know if the parts are worth taking apart and where to stop, as well as what to look out for and how to stay safe. Remember to stay safe and be aware of hazardous materials whenever scrapping electronics. If you want to make money dumpster diving or make money with scrap metal, you should know the dangers as well. Stay informed!
how to safely disassemble a microwave to scavenge all the interesting parts (MOT, HV Cap, etc.). What you need to pay attention to in order to avoid injury.
THERE ARE SAFETY ISSUES HERE - READ MY NOTES HERE Somebody gave me their old microwave so I decided to take it apart to see if there was anything inside that I could make use of before it goes to the local tip/recycling center. I have no use for the magnetron although there are a few videos on YouTube using them. I might strip out the magnets and use them on their own (see the video link below about the dangers). The two motors are both AC but may still be useful. The large transformer may have some use. The large capacitor scares me as it has the potential to be DANGEROUS and must be handled with care. The main circuit board has a transformer on it and a relay I think, plus various discrete components. The item I couldn't identify in the video is a thermal cutout that should shut off the power if the oven overheats.
Is it worth your time to scrapping a Microwave or take it straight to a scrap yard? This is one video in a series where I personally try to figure out if it is more profitable to spend time scraping/stripping something or taking it to a scrap yard without messing with it.
