A Chinese fighter plane has been charged by the US with engaging in a "unnecessarily aggressive manoeuvre" towards one of its aircraft. On May 26, a US RC-135 Rivet Joint Reconnaissance aircraft was directly cut off by a Chinese J-16 fighter over the South China Sea, according to the Pentagon. The latest issue over the South China Sea, where China has established extensive territorial claims, is the close fly-by and the US's accompanying remark.
