How Much Do Pastured Pigs Eat?

One of the more confusing questions we had when we first started raising pigs was how much would we need to feed them? There are a lot of different opinions out there, but this is the amount of feed we settled on after our first time raising pigs on pasture.

Most pigs will need to be fed grain alongside their pasture forage, as most hogs are not ruminants and aren't adept at turning grass into lean muscle. By feeding them the correct amount of grain, you will still encourage them to forage in the pasture, but allow them to gain weight quickly for decent turn around times before processing. We raise our pigs on a woodlot and in the forest, so there is even less "forage" than if they were in a quality pasture.
