NH Homestead Maple Syrup Part 2: Tapping More of Our Maple Trees!

This was day two of tapping our trees. We tapped 3 more for a total of 10 trees with 11 taps in them. For our small homestead, this will provide us with more than enough sap to turn into homemade maple syrup that will last us the entire year.

Each year, we tap our trees and boil off the sap to create maple syrup. It takes over 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. We use a converted wood stove to evaporate our sap. It's slow going but worth it in the end! It's so delicious on pancakes, waffles, or even drizzled over yogurt.

Do you make maple syrup at home?
